Probably because Mueller realizes that he can't win with this in a court of law, so he is taking his case elsewhere.

The nature of the questions indicates that he is still looking for something, anything, to justify the existence of a year-long fairy-tale-based attempted coup.

A few questions reveal that Mr. Mueller is still investigating possible coordination between the Trump campaign and Russia. In one of the more tantalizing inquiries, Mr. Mueller asks what Mr. Trump knew about campaign aides, including the former chairman Paul Manafort, seeking assistance from Moscow: “What knowledge did you have of any outreach by your campaign, including by Paul Manafort, to Russia about potential assistance to the campaign?” No such outreach has been revealed publicly.

Trying to set-up a he-said/he-said with witnesses that are "cooperating" with a gun to their head because they still face sentencing for unrelated fraud, tax evasion and perjury is a non-starter.

^Yeah, this.

Why not let President Bareback shut down this whole thing by answering the questions? Put it to bed already.

No collusion! No collusion!

So why doesn't Trump just answer the questions, put this whole thing to rest?

What with events in Korea and the Rasmussen poll numbers, there's a good chance that Trump is feeling confident enough for a sit down with Mueller.

Someone connected to Trump who does not want him to do this likely leaked these questions in an attempt to convince him that this is a poor idea.

Kelly? Kushner? Don Jr.?

NYT reporter said it wasn't someone on Trump's legal team. But that leaves plenty of other possibilities.

Whether he’s guilty of anything or innocent, nothing good comes from answering these questions. Trump needs to learn something from Bill Clinton’s impeachment.

If they cant get you on what they intend to get you on, they will get you on something else. The likelihood of a perjury trap is way to high. Trump shouldn’t answer anything and just let the chips fall where they may.

Only if a lie would it be perjury. Seems even his devote followers realize he's a liar and that he has reason to lie.

If he lies about any of the answers to these questions, it's because he's covering up for doing something illegal because he knows he cannot admit to the truth, as that would be admitting to crime.

He's in a Catch 22 about the questions. If he tells the truth he'll be busted for crimes. If he lies to cover up the crimes then he'll commit perjury.

Trumpists solution: Keep the crook in office and avoid answering the questions and claim "witch hunt".
