Author of article doesn’t understand the difference between being born homosexual and practicing homosexuality. I was born a polygamist heterosexual, but I doubt the Pope would approve of me marrying several women.

Yeah, Republicans just want to force gay people back in the closet and demand that they stay single their entire lives (or do conversion therapy).

This is one reason Trump bothers me so much as a gay man. The entire reason he is so popular is because 40% of this country cannot accept my right to live.

The whole things is nuts. The pope is a nutter.

And claiming that some deity that exists in the framework postulated by the Judaeo-Christian schema would deliberately create something that can't even reproduce is insane as well. The bible is crystal clear that human sexuality - the sexes themselves, exists for procreation.

One could excuse any other deviant sexual behaviors or paraphilias on exactly the same basis and it would have exactly the same amount of validity. It could apply to pedophiles (why are they not how God created them as well and why would he not love them just the same as the rest of his creations?), to necrophiliacs (who are we to criticize the all-knowing mind of god just because he chose to make people that like to have sex with corpses?), to bestiality (forget the scriptural prohibitions against it, because like all persons, God made them that way, and loves them even though they are sticking it in a goat or a sheep or what not).

Really what these nutter comments demonstrate is that religion is all phony and exists only for social, political, and economic control of individuals and societies.

The pope's comments are 100% political and have zero basis in the religion he claims to espouse. So he's dishonest as well.

A more astute and honest theologian would have explained homosexuality as the consequences of original sin and that if it were by design, it is only by the design of what happens to the system god actually intended once humans decided to defy him; that it be a constant burden/curse upon humanity until such time as the Messiah returns, etc and so forth. Blah blah blah.

The Pope's statement warmed my heart. He is truly an amazing man.

Yeah because straight people never lie and cheat on their spouses.

Why? Because gay sex acts are so highly gross and offensive to you? Maybe some of the sex acts heterosexuals perform also offend you, but it's none of your business what they do.

I'm loving this Pope. Truly embracing Christ consciousness and loving humankind unconditionally.

Now all he needs to do is see to it that all the pedophile priests find new homes in the nearest penitentiary. So weird that some Christians get so bent out of shape about man on man hot love (or woman for that matter) but turn a blind eye to the desecration of children.

Most Catholics and Christians I know actually don't care for this pope. They think he's either a fraud or working for the devil.

Hey, nothing wrong with that as long as all your partners are adults who consent with that arrangement.

And Mormons allow polygamy, so it's perfectly acceptable even in terms of Christianity.
