does the pope have any scripture to back up his position? I have plenty that does not back up his position.
Im sure some rookies will try to site Matthew 22:39 as evidence and if so, good for you even though I disagree. I can live with that, can you?
You don't need scripture to tell you Jesus loved everyone including those people that hated him. That's the foundation block of Christianity.
The problem with some Christians is they think everything has to be in scripture. Scripture was written by people, not God. Last time I checked, Jesus never sat down at a desk and wrote scripture. People did that thinking they knew what God said about any subject at any given time.
LOL, so you answered your own question and say it doesn't matter becuase you don't believe it.
Mathew 22:39
" And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.",.............. sounds like good advice but I guess you don't practice what you preach[/b].
You are correct that I dont preach as Im not a pastor
I didnt say it doesnt matter, stop trying to make it look like I said something that I didnt. I disagree that verse backs up the
Popes position, though I can understand why someone less educated on scripture might believe it is supportive of his position.

This is correct, however God had his hand on those people.

God has his hand on everyone including those who don't think the same way as you do.
Meh...it’s not like the Pope has any true spiritual authority. I agree that we should treat all with love and respect, gays included. However, that doesn’t change the words of the Scriptures. Roman Catholicism isn’t sola scriptura though so this may be acceptable for many.
A recent poll shows that Muslims in America are more accepting of LGBT people than evangelicals. It's quite ironic.
And some evangelical churches, especially in Europe, are accepting.
Religion has historically been influenced by culture and vice- versa.
