The pope's comments are 100% political and have zero basis in the religion he claims to espouse. So he's dishonest as well.
A more astute and honest theologian would have explained homosexuality as the consequences of original sin and that if it were by design, it is only by the design of what happens to the system god actually intended once humans decided to defy him; that it be a constant burden/curse upon humanity until such time as the Messiah returns, etc and so forth. Blah blah blah.
You tell us "the bible is crystal clear" as if it's somehow meaningful and then tell us "religion is all phony".
Care to actually take a postion or do you find sitting on the fence comfortable?

It is my understanding the Bible is silent on the topic of pedophilia because the legal definition did not exist.
Eventually the Jews determined age 12 was an appropriate age for marriage for girls.
Fast was forward to the New World colonization. Delaware determined age 7 was an appropriate age for consent for girls.
Legal age of consent/ marriage has been and continues to be highly variable throughout the world.
