Oh please, we're talking about gifts from members of the media to FBI personnel. I don't think it would be hard to determine who offered "the gift," who accepted it and how much it was worth. Everyone who works for the federal government (not just the FBI) knows you can't accept gifts over a certain dollar amount. I think it used to be $10 (it's probably more now) so, for example, you could accept a cheap company trinket like a plastic pen with the company logo but certainly not anything like dinner or a golf trip.
By the way, they are going to do more on that. My point is just that the people who work below the 7th floor aren't all angels. Because "gifts" were involved it is highly unlikely that it had anything to do with whistleblowing where the informant volunteers the info.
Very unlikely to be criminal. The Fed may in fact have administrative problems for accepting such gifts but media giver is not going to have a problem unless some clear quid pro quo is involved.

He is not about to give credit for his decisions to anyone else. His pride will not allow it. However, that does not change the fact that the firing of Comey was recommended, or if you prefer "hinted at" by other high ranking officials in our government. And it does not change the fact that the firing of Comey was justified.
There you go........You can make all kinds of arguments against Trump and the vast majority will be legit but in the end, Comey deserved to be fired.

Weiner laptop certainly created a dilemma for the FBI that close to the election, there were only 2 choices both of them bad. You can bet that NYPD would have leaked the emails at some point just before the election they had already leaked them to Giuliani.
Actually, an Assistant Attorney General in the NYSD raised the question as to why nothing was being done 4 weeks after being discovered. Suppressing that official request would have caused even a bigger firestorm if it was discovered that AAG's request was purposefully ignored. Comey was then pressed into action because of it which he didn't mind since it was so close to the election and it seemed Clinton's win was irreversible. Remember, there were hundreds of thousands of emails on that laptop.
No doubt, if nothing was done, it would have leaked. And rightfully so.
