it's my understanding that the Venetian empire was the longest running empire in history, some 700 years. And it was greed that ended that empire. All it took was a boat trip around the Cape of South Africa to India and that marked the end. Europeans no longer had to pay those stiff tariffs on salt, spices to the Venetians. And look at Venice today, sinking into the sea!
Breaking the country up into 3 parts would be a great experiment for the U.S., one part Republican, one part Democrats and another being Socialistic. The you'd have a choice about what system you wished to live under.
And how dare we prevent the breakup, as look how we cheered over the breakup of the Soviet Union.
Oh sure. Putin doesn't really care how the US breaks. Just that it does.
It won't make him any taller so its beyond me why he continues to press the matter.
Regardless of who you vote for, regardless of how patriotic you are, things change. What we have today may not be around tomorrow.
It's a scary thought, and as much as we wanna say "God Bless America", all good things come to an end. Nothing is promised.
Some think an idiot president will destroy us, some think we'll be destroyed economically boy foreign powers. Left things right will destroy us, right thinks left will destroy us. The truth is we'll never know.
But do you think we're built to last as a country or were we just a prototype that started with a great idea but had flaws to keep going and we won't be the same country in the future?
virtually nothing lasts forever. at some point just about everything fails. for instance in about 7 billions years this solar system will be virtually gone, or at least the inner planets and our star.
but if we look back in human history, no empire has lasted for more than about 500 years or so. change is inevitable.
The best cars....sure, we still make some of the best but are no longer "the king". Globalization has ensured that the ability to make high quality stuff can never again be truly localized.
We obviously still have a huge lead on intellectual pursuits. Whether its high tech, science, or the film arts, we retain the number one.
No one has mentioned the machine-tool industry - which America has always been second to none, until it was just given away to China by the globalists.
I've traveled around almost every part of western Europe, some of eastern/central Europe, some of east Asia, and even some of cental America, and I have never seen any of the everyday people in those countries who can repair and fabricate metal/steel/iron/aluminum like Americans can. Americans are wizards in this realm and I dont believe we will ever lose that.
The republican form of government, wherein governments are instituted to secure Creator endowed rights, could exist forever. However, the current People's Democratic Socialist Republic is about to collapse.
America as it was and the republic probably would last little changed for many more centuries without collapsing if it didn't have immigration. That's what historically usually lead or was largely responsible for a collapse of a civilization. It certainly will collapse relatively soon.
Really? And what Native American People are you from?
Conservatives hate America as it is today. They only love their idealistic theme-park version of 1950s America that never actually existed.
It would seem to me that it's the liberals that hate the prosperity of a good economy, plentiful jobs, business expansion, and every other good thing that's happened over the past two years. They are the ones that hate America as it is today because they have no answer for it.
The left would rather have everyone under their control and limit the free speech of their opposition in order to promote their causes of high taxes, open borders, and socialism, all of which would be the downfall of this country.
