The fact is we have been moving pretty quickly towards a centralized, Soviet style state since the Civil War when State's Rights were crushed. Both parties want more, and more government, and control. One just wants it a little faster. People have been conditioned over generations to be obsessed with government provided safety, and security. Traditionally women have been more susceptible to this fantasy, but now the Soy Boy generation is right along with them.
Yah, pretty much...the left hates cops but loves the idea of Politburo-style central dictocrats presiding over an army of informants and Stasi.
That's what makes their vision unachievable. They won't ever get that. What they WILL get is kicked off the government teat entirely, because the federal government won't be around to operate - and what remains will not be at anything approaching even the current scale...so all of those people are going to be unhappy. Whether they are the redshirts on the left or the redshirts on the right.
We are definitely on the road towards other former European colonies like Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, South Africa. People in (most) former colonies have less pride in helping their country or their neighbors, and are more inclined to help themselves at the expense of others. This is how colonies operated from their birth: money-making operations often involving human trafficking, mass displacement, and other immoralities. I believe this is the root cause of corruption and urban crime, two things that are wreaking havoc in Latin America & South Africa and have gotten worse here in the USA. The country isn't going to disappear, but we're on our way to being Brazil basically.
in fact we ARE fighting for our freedom. remember freedom isnt free, the price is eternal vigilance. we as a people and as a country have to stand up for our freedoms otherwise they die on the vine.
Sure freedom is free...that's the beauty of living in a modern democratic state; your freedoms won't die as long as you have a say in them.
Regardless of who you vote for, regardless of how patriotic you are, things change. What we have today may not be around tomorrow.
It's a scary thought, and as much as we wanna say "God Bless America", all good things come to an end. Nothing is promised.
Some think an idiot president will destroy us, some think we'll be destroyed economically boy foreign powers. Left things right will destroy us, right thinks left will destroy us. The truth is we'll never know.

I’ve seen them and worked with them. They were my customers. They can be on a Medicare Savings Program (paying zero $ for their Part B premium), but by golly, they are WHITE so they will blindly vote Repub since they don’t see themselves in the way that others see them.

What difference does the race of any American make? It's not relevant unless you're racist against them. Medicare is for seniors of all races of retirement age. Prove that poor whites are voting mostly Republican. If they are on welfare it would make more sense for them to vote Democrat.

Again, where is the proof of your claims? What does being toothless have to do with anything? You expose your racism more and more with each reply. What about blacks, poor, toothless or otherwise who constantly back the Democrats for their own gain?
I doubt that the U.S. will disappear anytime soon. However, I think that U.S. hegemony is fast winding down. And it think it's possible that the Trump years will undermine the basic ideas and behavior of America in a way that we never dreamt was possible.
