If you're devastated, you are devastated. You don't want to relive the event by telling it to officers. You don't want someone combing your pubic hair for evidence. You want to hide. You want to cry. You want to scream.
Sorry, cc, but you don't have any idea of what it means to be raped.
Once again - fake comments based on pure emotional rhetoric. Life ain't fair all the time. If you want justice you HAVE to speak up in a TIMELY manner.
Do you really believe this? And you wonder why a majority of women don't support conservatives.
Just ask Ms. Ford. Do you think her devestation has been alleviated now that she's come forward? Or, like a lot of women, is she experiencing death threats, accusations that she's lying, blamed for her own situation, etc. etc.
Are you feminist liberal women going to like it when your husbands, sons and male relatives are falsely accused even decades later of some kind of sexual misconduct? I know a lot of liberal women are single and childless male haters playing the dating field but not all of them are.

I didn't know the police were suppose to be psychologist and social workers. They're not suppose to take sides in an accusation, just collect evidence.
Sexual assault and its ramifications are unique to the victim and we can't have a law that dictates a time frame for when one needs to report.
Of course there are times when DNA evidence has to be collected ASAP but for some victims they can't overcome their fear and confusion to think properly.
I can only imagine the question the OP is inquiring about is in response to the Ford/ Kavanaugh hearing.
It does seem ridiculous that Ford as accomplished as she is in academia and her life can also be the splintered fractured and frail woman that she is portraying herself as at the hearing.
We have no choice but to believe her but there is doubt there.

We need a timely reporting law so that people's lives can no longer be disrupted and democracy hijacked by ancient allegations which cannot be proven or disproven due to the lapse of time, eroding memories, and generally making it impossible to ascertain factual events from fictional allegations.
We can all agree that sexual assaults are more impactful on society than property crimes, right?
So, in CA and NY/RI, you have 5 days and 24 hours, respectively, to notify law enforcement of the theft of any firearm.
Surely for something even more emergent than a missing piece of property, we can impose the same reporting requirements on a far more serious offense, to ensure that investigations are contemporaneously initiated, that evidence is preserved, and so that the system ensures equal justice in the form of sufficient due process, for both victim and accused.
We have a law. It's called the statute of limitations. And there is a good reason why we have it.
Why not just make it so that it has to be reported at the time of the attack being we all have such easy cell phone access. Also make a video of the event compulsory.
