Actually, the poster didn't answer my question at all - and even denied that I had asked one. But thank you for offering your own take of the situation.
And for the record, Donald Trump wasn't the President at the time of his alleged mockery of the disabled reporter. Although his standard of behavior should have been better voluntarily, he wasn't being a jackoff under the seal of the Presidency.
But does that really matter? Am I hearing this correctly - that there is a different standard of behavior in which mocking a disabled person is maybe a little OK? Because we are living in an era in which even the most minute cases of bullying and mockery are severely dealt with. The repercussions for belittling, mocking, and discriminating against others are very strong in this time. But we are seeing time and time again how politics greatly determines the outcome of social justice in these situations. It cannot be denied.
See post 105 for my response.
Trump mocked a disabled NYT reporter at a campaign event while running for the highest office in our nation.
A comedian made a joke about a public candidates appearance in a skit in which he roasts multiple other (non disabled) politicians appearances as well as his own.
Are you really incapable of seeing the difference?
To the Trump supporters, you can save your fake outrage. You can't possibly feel that way about a combat veteran when you and other Trump supporters are the biggest fans of President Bonespurs there is.
As many prominent dems used the same "loop holes" to not serve....
So, no fake outrage.... however, stop acting like you care about the military...
Trump insulted veterans in regards to their service fighting for our country.
The comedian made a joke that had NOTHING to do with the veteran's service.
Whaaaat???? Getting your eye shot out in the military has NOTHING to do with his service???

What I am reading is a magnificent attempt on your part to diminish the SNL event down to an uneventful murmur, when even Davidson's own costar Kenan Thompson agreed that the joke crossed the line.
You want to argue over who on the food chain can pull off discrimination. I'm arguing that everyone doing it is a jerk. Doubt we'll see eye to eye on this, but my ego can sustain the blow of your disagreement. I'll be OK.

Ok, same opinions applies to presidential candidates.... it's like dating, you know the candidates are on their very best behavior, and it's all down hill after.
Yes, there is a different standard, honestly I'm shocked that is a question.
Have you ever watched Carols Mencia? His main schtick is making fun of handicapped. Why? Because that's pretty much a comedian's job - to make fun of things.
All of comedy is filled with making fun of what is off limits.
I have to ask.... have you never watched stand-up comedy?

You think that a comedian and a president should be held to the same standard. I don't.
I'll elaborate on that thought and suggest that all grown adults, regardless of social or professional standing, can and should subscribe to the same standard of behavior toward handicapped and disabled people.
It's really not very hard to do. Just don't be a jerk.
^^^^ Best post in the thread and it came early on. The current conservative poutrage over a comedian is the height of hypocrisy. Let's all not vote for Pete Davidson for president.

It WAS funny and Democrats can laugh at themselves; something Trump cannot do ever.

Really? What words were they having? Trump had just barely announced he was running when he made that statement.

My sense of humor is very dark and has zero sensitivity. I don't have much taste however for Carlos Mencia, or any other comedians who think imitating or mocking disabled people is worthy of my laughter. It's not that I'm at all uptight or rigid, it's that making fun of disabled people is simply not funny to me. *shrug*
