I don't support the border wall or President Trump, but I wonder how long the Democrats in Congress can hold out and not compromise on the wall funding. Trump could dig in his heels for weeks or months and refuse to sign a budget bill to reopen the government. He does not think much of the federal workers or the government agency missions of the closed departments. Dems like the federal workers and the work of the civil service workers and contractors, Trump and his base thinks they are all needless bureaucrats- so he has no need to yield.)

On January 11th Federal Workers will not get their next paycheck and there will be lots of pushback. 800,000 Federal Workers won't be paid. I read somewhere that about 500,000 vendors and contractors who work at government facilities are forced to stop work, or to work without pay.

As the weeks pass the situation will get worse and worse. Trump will not care, he wants his wall.

Eventually, the Democrats and Republicans will have to yield and meet in the middle, which will give Trump some wall funding. (If the Dems just refuse to yield then the government will be in total crisis.

(Please, let's not get into another tired argument about the pros and cons of the border wall or take turns saying how terrible Trump is. There are many posts about this. Let's talk instead about when the Democrats need to give up something- along with the Congressional Republicans- so we can reopen the government.)

And you should also examine what the Republicans have to give up to get the Democrats to vote for the wall?

Right?

Once again, it's not Trump's wall. It's congress' wall that they approved back in 2006 but was not completed nor built as promised. Instead much of it is flimsy fencing that can and has been breached instead of the double barriers in the bill. Trump wants to fix that. What's the problem? The Trump administration countered for half the funds and yet the Democrats said no. In fact Schumer said "no wall, period". The ball is in the Democrat's court now.

A budget bill was NEVER put on the desk for President Trump to sign .... That's a fact.

Now back to all the rants.

PLEASE no more talk about the logic of the wall. The question had to do with the Democrat politics of holding out and punishing the government workers and contractors to make a point. is it worth making the government employees suffer to make a stand on the issue if you are a Democrat?

The government is not slightly closed because 66% of the non-DOD government workers are either working without pay or in furlough status.

Better question-how long will the Republicans let this go on before they vote to pass something that they already passed once before? And then override any veto?

As you know he did agree to one and then changed his mind when he watched Hannity.

The poll is blatantly one-sided.

You either agree with the OP or you are a stupid head.

It takes 2/3rds in both the house and senate to overrride a veto.

When the Foodstamps get cut off, the Democrats will bend the knee. And quickly.
