The ball is in Trump's court. The Dems sent him a deal that he reneged on signing, and he single-handedly shut the government down.

He can sign the deal and reopen the government whenver he chooses.

This again? Were you as concerned back in 2006 when congress passed the actual wall bill and it was to be the taxpayer to fully fund it? Thought not! Trump didn't campaign on Mexico paying for the wall he campaigned on securing the border. You're not focusing on the latter which is the important part.

It would be something if it was shut until Feb. 2021.

Senate never agreed. Never took a vote on latest budget.

The last one was dead before it reached the Senate. The one before that cleared the Senate and Trump changed his mind.

So I'm guessing there must have been a rerun of Red Dawn on TV recently?

The wall is only a small part of the problem. The big problem is Republicans, who had complete control of the government for two years, and ended their run with very little legislation passed and a shutdown that they don't know how to resolve. The Democrats had to come in and fix the Bush train wreck, and now they have to fix the Trump train wreck. Sooner or later the voters should get the idea that electing Republicans is not good for America.

No, he can't. The president only has 10 days to review legislation passed by congress. Failing to sign it within the time limit is known as a "pocket veto." Under most circumstances the bill will pass without his signature but if Congress adjourns during the 10 day period, the bill is dead.

For that matter, it was the Republicans who sent him the bill, and he reneged on his deal with Congress. McConnell and Ryan could have put together a 2/3 majority to override his veto any time they wanted.

Don't they teach civics in high school any more?
