Yeah, and if you think that's funny, this one guy said that Guam is going to capsize because of our military. Another lady said that we won't have cars and aircraft in ten years, and we're going to tear down everyone's houses. Pretty funny, huh?

Cue my favorite Rep. Hank Johnson. Who is still in office.
Trump is right -- at a 3rd grade level. However, the wind is always blowing somewhere in the USA. Always. And so if we were smart and we had our act together, we could improve the national grid so excess wind power can be sent to areas where the wind isn't blowing. Same thing with solar. Excess power from sunny places can be sent to cloudy areas.
I wish we had a leader who would promote science and technology instead of fighting it.
you do understand amps and volts and grid stability and 60hz and line lose and power factor and stuff like that right????

This is only half-true. Wind isn't a constant. If it isn't blowing in area A, it doesn't have to be blowing in area B. It can be blowing everywhere, or nowhere. And wind currents change drastically depending on the time of year.
The main wind current to the United States is the Jet Stream. But depending on the time of the year, it moves from basically Alaska down to the Pacific Northwest. Which is why it rains almost non-stop in Seattle from October to April.
As for solar, regardless of any changes to the grid, the sun only shines half the day. And depending on latitude and time of the year it will be much less than that.
And while a national grid sounds nice, there are significant transmission-losses. With our current localized electric grid, about 6% of the electricity is lost between the power plants and the customer. If you tried to send electricity from California to New York, nearly all of it would be lost before it got there.

It's like the song says: it's five o'clock somewhere. Of course we do move energy around now. But our grid, like most of our infrastructure, is crumbling, unreliable and subject to sabotage. Improving it is an area we could better use our money for than tax cuts for the billionaires and walls along the border. But that's not Trump or the GOP's priority.
