This site says around 2800 people were killed by alcohol impaired drivers, this number does not include the drunk driver nor their passengers, with those added, it is over 10,000.

To compare with murder victims of firearms, an average of 500 people a year are killed by rifles and shotguns combined. If you even add the non-stated firearms, that is around another 1900 people killed a year.

Actually the difference is how the left wants to collate the data. For example the left loves to include suicides and accidental gun discharges in their stats for gun violence.

Alcohol related deaths should include not only drunk driving related deaths but also suicides that showed victim had consumed a large amount of alcohol or mixed alcohol with narcotics. It should include fatal accidents that happened when person was legally drunk. Dumb frat party dares, drinking games gone wrong etc. Passed out with a lit cigarette that burns the house down. Drunken rages that turn into fights that turn into homicides.

Unlike those on the left, I believe that Darwin deserves a win every now and then and that society is better for losing such from the gene pool.

There are more than 500 a year killed in Chicago alone - mostly by firearms.

Look at FBI numbers:

Maybe we shouldn't outlaw any inanimate object and start blaming the humans that abuse their rights to use either.

Or maybe make guns extremely large so everyone can see them before their used. No more concealed weapons.
My post was in response to this statement by another poster:

How many people murder other people with alcohol? Is this some kind of pathetic attempt in justifying 30'000+ lives being lost every year in the US because of guns? You should be ashamed.
I figured alcohol and cigarettes shouldn't be dismissed as potential killers. Alcohol or cigarettes might kill whether they're abused or not. How much constitutes abuse? Guns only murder if they're misused. Not sure what your point is. I don't blame inanimate objects.

The reason why liberals only care about guns, instead of booze and smokes is because you can't defend yourself very well against the Gestapo, that Liberals obviously want to become, by throwing Marlboros and Bud Light cans at them.

Soooo anyway, if somebody wants to start a thread about alcoholism then go ahead, lets get back to guns..........the US should be ashamed by the amount of people losing their lives to firearms every year, ashamed by the amount of people being murdered, as well as the amount killed by police, accidently shot or taking their own lives! the US should be even more ashamed by refusing to do anything about it! People should be ashamed about their 'I'm alright Jack' attitude, the attitude that lost lives don't matter, nor do the lives of their loved ones left behind (as long as its 'other peoples lives ruined) We are talking about people losing their lives here!

Murders aren’t caused by guns. No gun has ever murdered anybody.

Murder is a cultural phenomenon.

Americans own more firearms than the rest of the world combined, yet we do not lead the world in our murder rate. Again, it has nothing to do with guns.

Alcohol is legal yet PEOPLE make bad choices and decide to over indulge, and become alcoholics. Drugs are ILLEGAL yet PEOPLE decide to become addicts. Cars and trucks are legal yet PEOPLE decide to drive them recklessly and cause road deaths.

My point is that people are going to use legal and illegal means to do stupid stuff. Making things illegal just forces a black market and for them to go underground. Look at what happened during Prohibition, and the Billions we spend on the "War on Drugs".

Address the root cause of what causes people to act recklessly and illegally, not the tool which we see is not the cause. The person is the cause.

The fact that 30'000+ people are killed each year by a gun is shameful, that's the issue that everybody seems desperately trying to 'avoid', 30'000 is a LOT of people, in EVERY other first world country on the planet a statistic like that would drive the government in to action, the people would demand some action, we are talking about hundreds of thousands of peoples lives affected here, burying your head in the sand and shouting second amendment isn't going to solve this problem (and yes its a BIG problem) how can people be so bloody stupid! if you are happy for the US to be compared with Iraq or Afghanistan then I really don't know what to say.
