is freedom a right? i have no idea what the point to this question is. is multiculturalism great? is it a right or a requirement? last i checked, people are free to live among whoever they want to. and they choose to live in Chinatown, Little Italy, the Muslim section, etc. people want to be among those they identify with. look at Provincetown and Asbury Park or other countless examples
Yet, there are mostly homogenous countries such as China, Japan etc. and they seem to be doing alright. I don't think anyone is suggesting that we live side by side and one side forcing their culture, values, etc. on everyone else. It's about living separately in separate areas so that doesn't happen and so that we can all live in peace and harmony.
To answer the question in the subject line simply and directly, no, but the prevailing beliefs and cultures should not be vilified and citizens of this nation should identify as Americans first, and American should come first in any hyphenated identifiers. Together we are Americans, first and foremost. United we are strong, divided we are weak.
Edit, I read the question wrong, my simple answer is no not yes. In a free society there is room for all sorts of lifestyles and beliefs and everyone should not be expected to share yours. I updated the bolded.

Well, a lot of people today seem to think it does. Somebody living a lifestyle that the gatekeepers don't approve of is seen as a "threat" to their freedom.
Then you go someplace else.
Like in your case, you leave Oklahoma and you go someplace like New Orleans, or California. It's not that hard to find your tribe, if it's that important to you.

The problem today is that some people want to do away with your traditional values and replace them with theirs. In a free society the would be room for everyone's traditions but that's not how it works today. Just like some want to change history to suit their beliefs and do away with the truth.
How does one go about replacing OTHER people's personal values? Please explain how that works in practical terms.
Could someone change your values that easily? I think that could be a problem you should look into.

Are they really though?
Different lifestyles and traditions being portrayed on TV and in movies that may be offensive to others is simply part of free speech. There are no laws imposing liberal bias on the media or in Hollywood, but there are laws against profanity, sexual indecency, etc and those laws are about to get much stricter with the way the momentum is headed in this country. Culture is a different thing. Hollywood is a subculture in and of itself and what goes or doesn't go there may not be the same as in Enid, Oklahoma. If those who want to promote more traditional values want to make their own movies and shows they can and do, but the market speaks when it chooses to stick with Hollywood over PureFlix.
I don't care if people share my values or ideas but I'd like to live where people want to improve where we live and not destroy it. That's all I'm asking for. It would be nice if we all worked toward that goal..to improve and make better.
