I agree Emmer looks like a good choice. I'm betting this will be drawn out, with others getting initial support, and Emmer winning later as everyone just gets exhausted.
Honestly, this is like asking a couple enmeshed in an angry divorce to go in a room and come out in agreement. They need some sort of binding arbitration, because they're not going to agree on their own.
So the dems want Emmer who might as well be a dem. Shocking.
At this point, it's a big joke. Like usual, the repubs do a great job at displaying their absolute impotence. We've got a cabal of tyrannical vermin headed by a demented demon on one side, and a bunch of wishy-washy, milquetoast blank-shooters on the other side. Great freakin' country we live in. And... yes, you can just call me Little Sunshine.
Emmer received the most votes, but did not receive a majority so further rounds will need to take place. Jeff Sessions has been eliminated after one round, and after a 2nd round Jack Bergman has been eliminated. Five candidates remain
Republican Rock Allen of Georgia said he will vote against Emmer on the floor if he gets the nomination citing Emmer's vote to codify SSM in the last conference
Emmer has a pretty healthy lead and is closing in on the majority of the conference
God help us if any of the crazy Freedom Caucus members is the nominee for Speaker. These people would be a disaster for America.
