I hate self check outs and will not use them. I will stand on a long line for a cashier. Why put someone out of work?
I can respect your position but I have little patience for standing in line and love that Publix has SCO in most of the stores near me. Quick in and out.
I use self checkout all the time. I find it convenient and prefer bagging groceries myself.
Our local Wal-Mart added cameras to the self check outs, so as your scanning you see yourself on screen. I never asked if its helped deter theft, but one problem is that the prosecutor in my city doesn't always prosecute theft. A guy working for Target here, said the prosecutor rarely prosecutes against theft and thieves get away with stealing.
It doesn't make sense that theft would be tolerated by the prosecutor though.
Well, the silver lining is that it looks like maybe stores are finally feeling like self check outs are as annoying as I’ve always felt they are - even if it’s for different reasons.
The only thing I steal at self check out are bags. This state charges 5 cents per bag…and I refuse to pay for bags. Call it my version of jury nullification.
The local Walmart manager said he had to hire a few more people because of self check. He is required to have someone watch them even though most of the customers here prefer the regular registers. They close half the self-checks from 9 pm to close.
LOL. It's not "Blue States" and it's not just Wal Mart......it's everywhere with any "self service check out"
Self service checkout are an invitation to crime.
yup. Red state, blue state.... just the same when it comes to theft.
