no, I don't know what they say. I know that I made valid points, and you haven't countered them. I am the last person who has to watch out for karma. I refuse to feel sorry for someone who can't afford an x-box, and I am not going to feel sorry for someone who buys the x-box and then can't afford their mortgage.

got a mortgage that I can easily afford if things get bad. I owe under $100k on my house. I put 40% down.

But the point is: you owe someone else money. I can proudly say I owe no one any money. I have to pay my rent, and if I lost my job I'd be totally screwed, but at least I don't owe any money. Don't have credit cards.

So, owing money, how long could you keep up the payments before the bank repossessed it, in case you lost your job?

I am not currently working. I have enough saved up where if I was frugal, I could pay my bills for 3 years. I could also sell my house if it got too bad. the market here has probably dropped 10-15%. if I lost $25k on this houes, I would still walk with $40k after real estate costs. I could last out a depression with that money if I had to. hell, I could just walk the app trail the rest of my life!

yes pell grants do have strings you have to maintain a passing average and finish school. I was talking about those who claim to be so poor ( people who chose to use their money for beer, cigs, LOTTO) instead of using their money for healthcare and better things. I am an ER nurse and see this way too much. I often wonder why people are so against socialism ( have you watched Sicko by Micheal Moore). Life is a choice, you wake up everyday and choose. I'm just saying make better choices.

Then you're obviously well paid, some might even say rich. As far as selling the house, I wouldn't recommend it--there's not too many buyers right now that you can trust to come across with the money.

Yeah, a government job is the path to riches. Only if you are a Democrat politician, maybe.

See the pattern here? "It's not my fault I lost my job. It's everybody else's."

The greedy folks who crashed the economy were the Democrats on the House and Senate banking committees and the Democrats in charge of Fannie Mae.

But FinalSay is right. The panhandlers are mostly alcoholics and wouldn't work if you gave it to them.
