I wish Obama had started a business from scratch and run it for a while - so that he could comprehend that there is more to this world than the demons HE overcame.
Can you imagine the demons that Bush exorcised with his Holy War? It's a chilling spectacle that someone as malleable and naive could be so convinced of the utter certainty of the necessity to invade Iraq on religious grounds to save the Western world and make way for his savior, as he saw it .
It's a ready made, custom fit worldview that can be carefully crafred to exclude all reason and present day reality in favor of religious interpretation.
Kind of like having 72 virgins waiting for you after you blow yourself up. Same coin, other side.

What an enigma, to see Bush raked over the coals by fellow "americans". Be interesting to see what the history books reveal 100 years from now, but doubt this nation will even be relevant then. Would that the real enemy of our country be given the same rakeover....along with their 72 virgins.

Hey, I agree 100%.
What scared me most during his reign was the number of people I came in contact with that believed the same thing and rooted for him on that basis alone.
Nevertheless, I still fear the anti-individualism of Baracko's Fascism as much as the anti-individualism of Cheney's Fascism.
I care not a squat whether anti-individualism is "left" or "right", it is still anti-me.

You mean like Bush did, with a LOT of help from his well-connected friends who bailed him out when he inevitably screwed up?
A possible cause of delusional thinking that there are "good demons" who keep him afloat rather than letting him sink, and that he needed to do something about the "bad demons" when he had the power to do so.
Yes, it's a stretch. But no more of one than the claim that you're making

Aw - The Christians are just jealous because they can't imagine a better heavenly reward than having 72 virgins.
Virgins don't last long in Islamic Heaven, which is why so many are needed.

That man was surrounded and engulfed by bad demons.

I'm not defending Bush - I am just scared of Obama, too.
I think we are missing the point here. This isn't just about the world's most powerful single man believing in biblical prophecy, this is about the world's more powerful man attempting to bring it about according to his interpretations. There is a distinct difference.
What many who may be fundamentalist Christians are failing to grasp here is that the power that has been consolidated into the Executive branch under the Bush-Cheney administration would one day then fall upon those who will come after them. This is something I often warned about but no one really cared or listened. Hypothetical here... What if Obama were a closet religious extremist and wished to carry out an agenda radically different than anyone before him, who paved the way and set the precedence of an imperial Presidency more than anyone else?
America as a prophetic fulfillment and visionary culmination is not a new concept. It goes back to our founding (America as religious utopia and "city on a hill"), our middle history (Manifest Destiny), and our 20th century history (America as army of the right cause and champion of freedom).
You can pretend that this idealism (or fanaticism, as you call it) has never before existed, but it pre-dates your humanitarian secularism.
Every leader has a "vision" he wants to fulfill. It is truly dangerous when it is a personal vision that is devoid of religious sensibilities. Utilitarian arguments that charade as "humanitarian" will lead you toward totalitarianism.

Our founding was on freedom OF religion, as well as an inherent freedom FROM religion, as in it is to be carefully excluded from politics.
Seems many in the last administration never got the message. Our "Manifest Destiny" was nothing more than a bloody land grab that has been artfully concealed by history.
"Champion of freedom" indeed, as long as there are natural resources and mucho dinero to go with that hard fought "freedom", as it applies to the 21st century, anyway.

Yeah, the founders of this nation were totalitarian maniacs.
