With all the questions and the impending investigations of the Bush Administration as a whole there is now thinking that these investigations could wind up on Bush's doorstep since he was commander in chief.

Couldn't happen to a more deserving fellow.........

I don't believe it would ever end up like that. No matter how much some people in this country hate him, I don't see how any US citizen could think having a former POTUS in prison (for actions while serving as such)benefits this country in any way. I suppose if he gets picked up now or in the future for some crime not related to his former office and winds up in jail or prison, that's another issue.

Obama and his henchmen should end up in jail for trying to weaken the CIA and the country's ability to gather intelligence. Do they think that what they're doing will make the country safer? Carter gutted the CIA during his term, Clinton weakened it more and put up "walls" during his two terms, and now Obama is picking up where his Dem predecessors have left off.

Do we really want CIA officers being hamstrung by worrying about whether what they do will end up being a political hot potato? Do we want national security decisions made based on fear of risk and fear that even though you're told what you're doing is perfectly legal, some politically motivated administration will come in afterwards and make you a scapegoat? Is that really what we want?

Bush did absolutely nothing wrong as it relates to this story.

Would they both be sharing the same prison cell?

From the piece:

"One Bush administration legal advisor, Jack Goldsmith, says his colleagues were acutely conscious that the president or his advisors could someday be investigated for the steps they took or approved after 9/11."

My question is, why were they so conscious of investigations? Did they know what they were doing was illegal? Was this "consciousness" more in the line of covering their butts, or doing what's legal in both the letter and spirit of the law?

In a sane world, Bush and his buddies would all be in prison for life. In the best case scenario, think : Marie Antoinette's fate.

Not just the Torture Policy

At Nuremberg most Nazis were hanged for "Waging Agressive Warfare" or falsifying intelligence to justify an attack.

Not quite. In a sane world we don't ignore the law and common sense for cheap political gain.
