FT.com / Comment / Opinion - Secrecy in science is a corrosive force

Quote:
Dubbed “climate-gate” by global warming sceptics, the most outrageous East Anglia email excerpts appear to suggest respected scientists misleadingly manipulated data and suppressed legitimate argument in peer-reviewed journals.

These claims are forcefully denied, but the correspondents do little to enhance confidence in either the integrity or the professionalism of the university’s climatologists.

What is more, there are no denials around the researchers’ repeated efforts to avoid meaningful compliance with several requests under the UK Freedom of Information Act to gain access to their working methods.
Slowly but surely, it is making it's way into the MSM.

This cabal, for many years now, have been behaving defensively and secretively, which is not conducive to true, honest, reliable science.

This is an excellent article on the scandal. Must read.

Credible scientists are now turning on the cabal;

http://coast.gkss.de/staff/zorita/myview.html

Quote:
Why I think that Michael Mann, Phil Jones and Stefan Rahmstorf should be barred from the IPCC process
Eduardo Zorita, November 2009
Quote:
Zorita was a UN IPCC Contributing Author of the Fourth Assessment Report in 2007. Since 2003, Zorita has headed the Department of Paleoclimate and has been a senior scientist at the Institute for Coastal Research of the GKSS Research Centre in Germany. Zorita has published more than 70 peer-reviewed scientific studies.
Quote:
Zorita's stunning candor continued, noting that scientists who disagreed with the UN IPCC climate view were "bullied and subtly blackmailed."

Revkin, a buddy of the cabal;

Quote:
“We won the war — the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change was awarded a Nobel Peace Prize, and climate and energy legislation is near the top of the U.S. agenda,” Dr. Curry said. “Why keep fighting all these silly battles and putting ourselves in this position?"
Because all your work is based on manufactured data.

Quote:
The documents include files of raw computer code and a computer programmer’s years-long log documenting his frustrations over data gathered from countries in the Northern Hemisphere.
Harry, that poor SOB.

Also, what those here constantly contesting the facts of this do not understand is that the "details" of the issue, the "true deceit and manipulation" are being sifted through and explained by McIntyre now at CA. A site, contrary to many AGW advocates belief is widely read BY many Climate Scientists and respected even by those who may support an AGW hypothesis (that is, those "real (tm)" climate scientists).

This may very well be the best thread EVER in the PoC forum.

I'm loving every moment I spend reading it. Keep up the good work, everyone!

Have you heard the latest?

After looking at the code, it seems Mann might have hard-coded his numbers for the debunked hockey stick.

The fix is in with the media, including Google;

small dead animals: Climate Emails: Don't Google It

Quote:
Typically, when you begin to type in search terms, a drop down window will appear to provide helpful suggestions, based on the search terms Google users are typing in most often.

I mention this, because a couple of days ago, typing the word "climate" into the window resulted in "climate hack" and "climate emails" popping up near the top of the handy helper suggestion list.

Today, Google's handy helper seems to have had a change of heart.
climate emails - Google Search

Shouldn't this be at the top of the list?

The lengths the media will go to in suppressing this story is remarkable and very troubling.

Indeed.

Google has been fixing search criteria in unethical ways for a while. sometimes they are subtle, sometimes not. A lot of their manipulation with their search engine came up during the elections and have existed for a while concerning legitimate climate science research.

It is pretty scary when you start thinking about it and connecting the dots.

I have given a lot of thought to that plague of environmentalism...

How can u stop a monster train like that,when everybody jumps on it ,for populism,demagogy,publicity...

At first,we have to win an ideological battle. Carbon is innocent,not a polutant,GW is astrophysical...
Second,if we cannot stop the monster train ,we must derail it,render it toothless.

Like by accepting measures for...the year 2050. Who lives & who dies by then...?

Stalling,freezing,barking but no biting, ,those are the techniques we have to use against this 21century plague...

If nessecary,let's accept a "GW "tax,only if it is up to $...5 per year,per...family...

Update on the Search Engines.

I did my own test to see how many other engines were using like unethical responses concerning this.

I tested a bunch ranging from ask, bing, to dogpile.

Only Yahoo's search engine seemed to suggest the correct response by relevance.
