Obviously, the government's job is to protect people from themselves....

If the government's job wasn't to protect us from ourselves and people who want to take away our possessions,
there would be no police... no rules.. we would have no laws, no courts, no judges....

but,... I'm really tired and I'm going to sign off now.

Have a nice night!

Or instead of gambling your tax dollars or such sure losers as cash for clunkers, weatherproofing your homes for $57K, borrowing nearly a trillion dollars for the sure job creation loser, or the long-odds bet that a government bureaucracy can provide you with better healthcare; put your money were you actually have a chance of something positive happening.

More rambling from someone who's obviously clueless about our city, the people living here and those that visit. Where'd you get those figures, Mike? Should I wash them with a strong anti-bacterial soap before handling them?

The mayor knows exactly what type of people visit. You - clearly - don't.

I have to agree with Kevk on this aspect of LV: It can be LOT of fun - even if you don't go near the gaming portion.

The finest Dining experience of anywhere in the world. Shows, of all different sorts - Musicals, Theater, Reviews etc. Shopping second to none. And so much more.

Goldman is one of the boys, their mouthpiece.

Goldman's biography, Of Rats and Men: Oscar Goodman's Life from Mob Mouthpiece to Mayor of Las Vegas, says it all.

For all who are trying to encourage me to visit, don't bother. I don't choose to "enjoy" sin city's facade.

The bright lights don't cover the darkness they're hiding.

We go to see the shows. We book 4-5 nights worth of shows in advance to assure getting tix, then do tourist stuff all day. I limit my casino spending tightly, the house always wins, so why waste money. I see two general classes of people when I visit, the well-heeled ones (that the good mayor wants) and the obviously seedy, half-drunk, down and outers who should be in Gamblers Anonymous. We enjoy the city in moderation, every several years, that's it.
