I just read that article myself. This is really good news, apparently this "Latitude 36" grass is newly developed strain of natural grass, and is supposedly some of the toughest grass out there. It can take a beating, and also holds up in cold weather, which is a good thing seeing as how the Redskins will probably be playing in January a lot for the next 10 years.
Also, I read that there was some kind of silt build up under last year's field, which made it difficult for the grass to take root and get enough water. They'll clear all that crap out and then put in the new Latitude 36 stuff. They are also going to re-sod the field midway through the season after the week 8 game against the Chargers.
Glad they're making progress, because the field condition for the Seattle game was embarrassing.
it's never the sod, the dirt underneath is far more important...you need to replace the dirt too, every bit of it...keep digging until you hit something hard.

hell of a draft by our front office. not a lot of first round talent, this was one of the best years NOT to have a first round pick.
They beefed up our secondary which is nice, seeing as how the Skins had the 2nd worst pass defense in the NFL last year. I also like the running back we picked up, he could be a nice 3rd down guy and he seems to be a threat to catch passes in the flat, which Morris isn't all that good at.
I also like the tight end outta Florida. if Davis comes back 100%, we can run a lot of 2 TE sets and really throw off opposing defenses. Our 4th ranked offense will be even more deadly.

that was a quote from Colin Cowherd on ESPN, not my words. Maybe I should've put quotations around that sentence LOL.
