The Cam Newton era is at its end. Newton had opportunities to get in shape and playing up to and exceeding expectations. He did not do that. It is time to move on.
I like what Kyle Allen has done for the Panthers so far. I hope the team can focus on him and winning. If the Panthers can finish with a postseason appearance, the 2020 season should be hopeful.

Well, our run defense did us in yesterday. While everyone has been talking about Cam Newton and Kyle Allen, every team that ain’t Tampa has been able to run on us this year. Yesterday’s loss was also problematic as far as our playoff chances since Seattle and Minnesota are ahead of us and Los Angeles owns a head to head tiebreaker.
Next game is definitely not a gimme against them Falcons who imitated a competent team against the Saints yesterday.
The Panthers' defense looks more like a do nothing defense, a defense that does nothing. No one should be content in fielding and coordinating a do nothing defense. If the defense continues to do nothing, defensive coordinator Eric Washington can get the hell out.
The Falcons are bad again this year. They should be beatabe. Head coach/defensive coordinator Dan Quinn is falling through cracked ice.

Rivera calls the defense now iirc. What frustrates me the most is the inconsistency, it's like they can only match up and game plan well against some teams but not others.
Divisional games are always tough, and even at 2-7 the Falcons won't be a guaranteed win. Look at what happened in New Orleans last week.
Well it looks clear at this point that Kyle Allen isn’t starting QB material. That game was absolutely horrid. At 5-5 and his recent play it’s time for tough decisions to be made. Chances of making the playoffs with Allen look grim. I wouldn’t be opposed to Tepper entertaining the idea of Kaepernick at this point. Also I’m wondering if he’s going to keep Rivera after this season or go ahead and clean house. Either way this quarterback issue needs to be addressed by the 2020 season. It’s painful seeing a near MVP caliber season by McCaffrey go to waste.
The Panthers gave away a must-win game against the Falcons. Luke Kuechly and the defense did not show up again. Offense is now sputtering with no offensive drives.

Decisions need to be made at this point indeed.
An easy decision is to fire defensive coordinator Eric Washington. Washington does not like defenses that stop offensive drives from scoring. This is trending hot.
The offense needs a build. The quarterback situation going forward will not involve Cam Newton. The Panthers drafted Kyle Allen and Will Grier knowing Newton underachieves and cannot stay healthy. Either Allen and/or Grier will be the tandem in 2020, or the Panthers will be shopping in free agency. Beyond Christian McCaffrey, the Panthers need players who catch balls and run with them into the end zone for touchdowns.

Absent a miracle run to the playoffs, the future is now in Carolina. Will Grier needs to get some time on the field to see if we go another direction at QB. I think Tepper gets his own people and Marty and Ron are finished in Carolina. I think Tepper has already made a decision to move on from Cam, no matter what he says to the press.
I would like to see Rivera return for a tenth season.
The Panthers' needs are simple. Get a general manager that makes transactions to improve the roster on the field, a defensive coordinator who coaches and coordinates an excellent defense, and players who want to win games and a Super Bowl championship.

Rivera has had his chance. He's a good coach, but it's time to move on. What hurts the Panthers is that they are easy to prepare against. They want to power run the ball, have the QB to manage the offense and the clock, and believe that they still have a top 5 defense, which they don't.
You only feature Christian. Greg Olsen is not even a weapon they are utilizing anymore. Atlanta knew exactly how to prepare against the Panthers. The Panthers cannot have the mentality of: this is how we play, if you can stop us, good for you. That is not working for this lineup.
