A couple other current threads have set me to thinking: What foods are just plain "no can do, no way"?

Mine as a child were stewed prunes, certain kinds of fish, spam, fish heads, pig's feet, chicken feet, beef tongue, "tripe" (beef stomach lining). That's all I can remember right now. I know there was a lot more!

I remember telling my mom several times: Maybe when I'm TEN I'll like more things. There was never any response!

Go figure that I liked spinach (thanks to good ole Popeye!) and liver. But anything other than a patty on a hamburger bun - no way.

Yours?

Most of these things you listed, I've had, but some I haven't. I've never had tripe or chicken feet or stewed prunes. Although I like prunes straight out of a bag OK. All the rest that you listed, I liked well enough. Well...maybe not fish heads. That would probably do me in.

Some dishes, I had bad experiences with, as a kid. And I'm a grown up now, and will not eat. Like hominy. Nope. I will never eat hominy again. Or beets. Nope! I think those 2 are as close to 'phobic' as I can think of.

I can't do eggs if they are runny in any sense or if the white and yolk are visibly separate. So no fried eggs, no poached eggs, no hard-boiled eggs. I hate this about myself because it's so limiting.

Can't do raw fish/seafood, which is also limiting. When I was a teen, I spent several weeks in Japan and my friend's family took me to what I am sure was a very expensive restaurant where we had a private, upstairs, traditional-style room with tatami mats and a sliding door. We were served sushi (tuna, I believe, as I recall a bright red color) and I couldn't eat it. I felt terrible, but I just couldn't.

A phobia of mine is that I will get worms or parasites from sushi, so I don’t eat it.

I feel that way too, although I didn't used to. I've become more germophobic in the past few years, understandably. As for beets, I like them now but no way would I touch them when I was younger. Sardines, anchovies.... ugh. I'll eat sardines now (Omegas) but nope on anchovies. And to think I used to add raw eggs to smoothies before we learned that it's not always advisable. (Accent on not always.)

Chitterlings. Stink like hell and people put ketchup on them. Disgusting! They have squirrel brains in a can and a guy at my office ate some with milk poured over it I almost barfed.
