Now that it appears the Parkside Town Commons project is finally moving forward - I wanted to bump this thread again. This shopping center is going to extend OKC and connect with the road to nowhere that is currently off Davis Drive that connects to Louis Stephens in RTP. I'm sure that will make this intersection even more fun at rush hour.

Anyone know who to go to in order to start drawing more attention to this intersection in the hopes of getting it fixed? I feel like until there's a major accident there (its only a matter of time), no one is going to fix it.

Just an update. The jog on GLC between Green Hope School Road and Morrisville Parkway is being fixed. Construction seems to almost be done. The jog at O'Kelly Chapel Road remains untouched and annoying. There's also the old, tiny, narrow bridge over Kit Creek north of O'Kelly Chapel that will need to be replaced. Nonetheless GLC is shaping up to be quite a major road.

I wonder what they're going to do with its northernmost reaches, where it ends at a right-in/right-out intersection with NC55. I know Hopson Road is going to be extended and connected to Scott King road; GLC it could either be realigned and extended to end at that new segment of Hopson, or better yet extended even further to NC55 to connect with T.W. Alexander Drive.

Just an update. Looking at the latest site plan for Parkside Town Commons, it looks like the realignment of GLC at OKC will finally happen as part of phase 2: http://sitesubplans.townofcary.org/P...hibit_C-2A.pdf

I also noticed that the land where the future road is going to run through is up for auction in a couple weeks. Considering much of that land is going to be eaten by the road, not sure what they're trying to sell.

News of the phase II alignment of Green Level Church at O'Kelly Chapel Rd. is great news (as is the proposed Sheetz on the map you linked!), but the public auction of land worries me. Has something gone wrong with the plans since the maps were drawn? Is the land being auctioned the land currently occupied by Green Level Church (to be broken up once road is realigned to the west)? The land to the east of Green Level Church at that intersection was supposed to be townhome/apartments in a later phase of Evans Farm development.

I can't help but wonder how long it will take all of Green Level Church Rd. to be populated by housing developments. There's still a lot of forest left, but it seems only a matter of time...

The lot being auctioned is at the corner of O'Kelly-Chapel and GLC Rd. The Green Level Church itself is several miles south of there and nowhere near this intersection. Or did I misinterpret what you were asking about?

Sheetz

I live in Evans Farm. If I'm reading the linked document correctly doesn't that mean moving the road will take out the Horton's Creek pool!?!?!

No, it looks like they planned pretty well and built the pool with the realignment in mind. It will put the road closer to the pool than it is now, but that's probably why they put the pool there and not a house.

I left out Rd. Green Level Church Rd. I don't know anything about the church, but I can tell you about every twist, turn, and pothole in Green Level Church Road.

The road realignment is definitely not close to the Hortons Creek Pool. Plus those three lots for auction are also behind the pool area on the North side from that property. The West side of the pool area already has space for two lanes allotted (although only one is being used right now).

Any idea what type of business would go for those three lots?

I am hoping the link some of those roads up (i.e. O'Kelly Chapel) to the new Shopping Center on 55 with sidewalks...

Well, believe it or not...Green Level Church is on Green Level Church Rd.! Just before the left turn onto whatever the road is that becomes High House. There is also a place called Green Level between Mebane and Burlington. Can someone tell me what is meant by "Green Level"? I ask because there is a Red Level in Alabama
