The new intersection is almost open. Anyone know if they will put up a stoplight?

For the time being, its just going to be a 2-way stop, with GLC stopping as before. Per the project plan on the Town's website though, MI Homes is required to perform a signal warrant analysis within 90 days of completing the re-alignment, and if a traffic light is warranted, they are required to install one within 12 months.

Personally, this is a very dangerous intersection with limited visibility of traffic on OKC from GLC, especially on the north side of OKC. They should at least make it a 4-way stop until they install the traffic light.

Four-way stops with multiple lanes are terrible. I can never tell who got there first. Even a two way stop actually seems like it would be a downgrade in terms of safety. I'm really hoping that signal warrant analysis shows a signal is needed.

A 4-way stop would be a disaster with all the traffic at that intersection.

Maybe a roundabout is the answer!

So the intersection was open today evening on my way from work and the traffic was going crazy. seemed like people didn't know how to react to this simpler traffic pattern. It was even worse than previously. I don't think there's a way around traffic lights.

By chance I used the new intersection this afternoon as well. It was tight. Only two lanes for GLC at the intersection seems crazy. We'll get used to the new pattern, but I think the intersection itself will have to grow.

Will be interesting to see how far back the traffic is backed up on GLC both without and with a light. Did they put in an extra turn lane in the north bound direction or is it just one lane? The old road was slowed by lack of a long turn lane for right turning traffic.

I was not aware the light was not going in right away. Im not as worried about myself but think about all those buses going to Alston Ridge twice a day. I hope its safe.

Any time a light is put in on a state road, it is always up to the DOT and whether their testing and calculations determine if it is warranted.
