I thought it handled up to 54mbps but mine is not. I do not see any speed adjustments/config....just an old basic modem. I will play around with it. I actually have another old WRT54G I will try.

I recently bought the ASUS Dual-Band Wireless Router (RT-AC56U)

Set-up was simple and it's been working great. I'm sure there are plenty of good options, but that's at least one to consider.

Make sure you are using WPA PSK-AES and NOT WPA PSK-TKIP for your wireless encryption. TKIP has a hard cap throughput that is pretty low. That would be the first thing I would check.

so for those of you that have been upgrade, i got the email last night. i don't have TWC cable tv, but is the HD quality visibly better now that it's been converted to digital?

"Now you can experience even better service with a 100% digital network for a crisper, clearer picture and sound."

It's Tuesday. Did anyone get a MAXX upgrade today, or is everyone in a holding pattern for two weeks?

Nothing. I know someone in Preston (27513) that got a mailer saying the new higher speeds were coming soon and to get a better modem.

I haven't got anything yet and I'm in NW Raleigh (27617). No mailer, no speed bump, nada.

so just to confirm, if you have VOIP with TWC, you can't use your own modem for internet?

Any economical wireless router recommendations? I do not plan on paying $200+ for a wireless router.

THanks!
Join Costco and buy one of the NetGear 802.11AC models. Lifetime returns policy, just like on my K-Cup brewer.

Yes, you can use your own modem. They will split the line and use your modem for Internet and theirs for phone. You avoid the monthly modem fee, even though you still have their modem...yes, it's stupid.
