What are some of your favorite scenic routes in the area? So far I have enjoyed Driving North of I-540 in N. Raleigh on Creedmoor Road and Six Forks Road up past Falls Lake.

I don't have a convertible or a motorcycle, but I enjoy a scenic drive every now and then. Any suggestions?

US64 to Siler City. I like the rolling vistas, even though it is a highway.
Optional: On to Asheboro, and South to the Zoo

US64 to Pittsboro, then 87S to Sanford.

US64 to Pittsboro, NC 903 to Bear Creek/Goldston, Through Goldston to House in the Horseshoe...I guarantee this ride.

401N to Louisburg, 56E to Bunn, Lake Royale, S to Castalia, Whatever, I can't remember the routes.. Get lost anywhere out there. You'll love it.

US501 N from Durham to the Virginia line, Horse country, with lots of optional side roads.

I DO have a convertible and I second your road choice.

I tried to get my wife to buy a house in the Devonshire subdivision, which is 3 miles north of NC 98 on 6-Forks/New Light, but she wouldn't go for it. Driving home from work every day would have been a pleasure rather than a chore.

751 between Durham and Apex (and I imagine beyond), is very pretty, as is Farrington Road (parallel to it to the left). They both cut through Jordan Lake - gorgeous views. And then 64 goes over Jordan Lake for quite a big portion as well. A nice drive might be down 751 from I-40, west on 64 to Farrington, and back north up Farrington to I-40.

I have to say, my husband has a convertible and we are close to that, off of purnell. He is definitely in a better mood when he arrives home with the top down!

It is nice to be able to drive without tons of stoplights..........

I second the 751. I just love the old barns, the old gas station and the scenery all around.

My favorite one is Creedmoor road/HWY 50 and HWY 98 around Falls Lake. Very pretty. I used to live in Raleigh and work in Butner which was a 45 minute communte out hwy 50. It was so relaxing and pretty in the morning that I hardly noticed the long commute. I'd take my coffee and turn up the radio and enjoy the drive to work!
