I third, fourth?, Cloos Coney Island in Mission Valley. Their hot dogs have the "snap". I also love Roast Grill downtown.

And on the North/South thing, I think the complaint was not about the people asking "where can I get hot dogs like up north", which is a legitimate question. It was a complaint about why do you have to say bad things about the way Southerners eat their hot dogs in asking the question. I am a Southerner and don't like my dogs with slaw, like many in NC, but there is no reason to say bad things about them.

And the soggy buns......I think you just went to a bad hot dog vendor....it is the fair, for goodness sake....what did you expect. At the fair, I go for corn dogs only and am careful to get the ones freshly made, not the ones sitting out for hours. The quality from vendor to vendor at the fair is QUITE different!

Default Cloos

Cloos in Mission Valley has the best hot dogs in the Triangle. They also have awesome cheese fries. They are an NC State institution!

The best place to get hot dogs is in front of Lowes Home improvements. They serve Sabrett hot dogs with the best condiments in town.

One giant *YAWN* from me for the same old, same old bitching about people who simply want some food they like, and might I tell you that when I lived in NYC I heard plenty of southerners complain (the forum won't let me say female dog) about lack of grits and good barbecue. Just adjust, dude, don't get yourself so worked up, sheesh.

While I agree that Northerners should not try to change the traditional Southern ways, there are plenty of things that we can add to make the area more diverse.
What I do find disturbing is the continual use of the term Yankee. Should all northerners refer to all southerners as Rednecks or Hillbillies?

I'm partial to The Dog House hotdogs if I'm in the Durham area. Also there's vendor cart on Hillsborough St. in Raleigh across from NCSU called Hungry Hank's. He sells a very good kosher hotdog, and you want find a cleaner hotdog stand anywhere. His stand is in front of the Wachovia Bank..Mon-Thurs I believe.
