I didn't expect my husband to be handyman inclined but at least to be able to have the strength/arm muscles to move the furniture or something heavy of the sort that I can't lift or something that needs two people to do a task. Everything else we can learn as we go along; I was more concerned with finding someone who would treat me right and have a job.
We both try to learn how to learn to do handy things around the house; if I can't figure it out, he will try it out or vice versa or we'll get his cousin to do it for $100, lol.
Some of the things I think of from the top of my head are:
- me: oil changes (with some of his help), painting (he does the high spots I can't reach since he's taller), and the cleaning, folding/washing laundry, finances
- him: cooking, ironing, computers up to date, taking out trash to curb, cutting tree branches
We kinda figured it out as we went along and figured out each others strengths and weaknesses.
