Well I'm black too, so why can't you be open to the fact that your perspective may be colored...? And you're possibly ascribing too much to your skin color?
No offense, I'm done discussing it. Anybody with an opposing opinion, is their buisness.
I know what you mean. For the last decade, I have begun to acknowledge that I am a very privileged woman because I am a medium skin tone.
I am neither too dark (thus not appearing attractive) nor am I too light (and thus appearing to be "less Black").
That is what's wrong with the black community, you are referring to yourself as privileged..nice way to try to elevate yourself above the rest of us darkies huh?
You know what's so funny is that Gabrielle Union had the same issue when she was in high school. She tells the story about how most of the white boys saw her as just a 'nice girl' and she started to wonder if she was unattractive because they never tried to date her. Yet online, white men are always talking about how gorgeous she is and only if "most black women took care of themselves to look like her" yet when Gabrielle Union was RIGHT in front of their faces they never even gave her a chance. Now that she is a celebrity & has everyone's approval they want her but when she was just another black chick they weren't checking for her
Gabriel Union is a great looking woman....... I don't know about her high school experiences or whatever.
I like her.. If I was single and she'd have me... I'd be with her.....She just looks good to me....

No one really looked good in high school...especially when they grow up to become a celeb and have a ton of makeup and hair stylists. I looked like crap in high school and was picked on, now guys from hs send me messages trying to see if it's too late...
My skin didn't grow lighter, I just learned how to do my hair, makeup and dress.

*Sigh*
You are obviously reading the wrong intent behind that word.

She's actually on your side.
You have severe self-esteem issues. Stop projecting on other people and seek therapy.

Yes, I had her in mind as well, she grew up in Nebraska. I seen it over and over again in my life, while growing up as well. Now she's famous it's a different story.
It will not be long before you'll see: "Not A Member" underneath their name.
The OP is headed in that direction. Let them have thier little fun, it will not last long.

To talk intelligently about color, race and preferences you should have some experiences in the point you are trying to make. You're making the mistake many intellectuals make is that what you read or sounds good in theory is not realistic.
Just because you read something or it sounds good does not make it correct. You hear of racism here in the states but actually we've all come a long way.
Dark skin, light skin hopefully we look inside and try to understand. You're in a very non-diverse country, not sure you'll understand. You might take this subject to the Politics & Other or Great Debate forum.
