But in this traditional "man asks woman out" scenario, the man gets to choose which women get his attention. In a way, he's passively rejected the women he doesn't deem attractive enough for him. True, he doesn't actually tell them to get lost, but actions speak louder than words.

it's so stupid how some of these people think that just because they're asking out 10,000 people a year one of them HAS to say yes -- nobody is guaranteed any of that crap.

Err, no. Going by that logic, when a woman gives her attention to one man she is passively rejecting other men. That doesn't seem logical. There are plenty of women that I would love to give my attention to but some of them have boyfriends, husbands or I may feel like the woman wouldn't like me. That's not me rejecting someone.
