I go out to dinner with someone i met and i thought she seemed nice...until i order my meal. Outback Steakhouse and I order a steak with mashed potatoes and green beans. OMG she squeals, you can't do that, you ordered three starches! WTF? I just look at her. Then, she tells the waitress, he wants a salad instead of green beans. I am speechless.
Then i get the lecture that always lights me up... a man your age shouldn't eat like that and goes on to tell me how i should eat. The bottom of my 22 ouncer came fast.

Normally i would have paid and walked but i was hungry. So i decide to see if i can **** her off. I tell her i am a grown man and can eat what i want. She goes on a tirade about healthy eating. I laugh. When dinner is over and we are walking out, she says, next time i am taking you someplace healthy. Hahaha I say, sorry honey, there will not be a next time. Oh, why not, just because i told you you don't eat healthy? I say yes, have a nice night and hop in the car.

To make the night better she is still belittling me about my eating habits while I am driving away. I have dated healthy eaters before but they have never tried to shove it down my throat like this one.

Any other guys here experienced this? I generally try to stay away from anyone who claims to go to the gym 7 days a week or I know eats nuts and berries because I know there will be a problem. Even though I am a thin guy, they always tell me I should eat healthy and work out. Geez.

Haha. Unbelievable. This sounds more like orthorexia or an eating disorder to take it to such extremes.

I eat healthy but I also eat steak and potatoes sometimes (both healthy foods in my book, in moderation anyway).

I think you can just put this down to an encounter with a nutty person and be glad she showed her control issues upfront and it didn't go further than one annoying date.

Well she doesn't know that much, because green beans are not starchy. Frankly, I'm not sure why she would have thought going to Outback indicated a health-conscious meal.

I can't imagine having sat through dinner in this scenario. In your shoes, I probably would have signaled the server and asked for the food to go.

Yeah. I don't understand which are the 3 starches she was referring to, the only starch in that meal was potatoes

I always wonder why people hyper-focus on the wrong thing. She was an opinionated, controlling *****. But the REAL problem was that she was a "health nut".

Personally, I prefer a man who eats steak instead of one that only eats soy and its derivatives.

My sister is a physician and she is like that. Not to that extreme, but if she saw you eating a Quarter Pounder or something, then she'd say something. Maybe not on a first date, but she would also not allow her husband to eat steak and fried chicken every other day.

I mean, I think it's fine. Fitness and diet (as an active priority) are big in her life, not so much in yours.

I have a gym membership. I'm not a nut about it, but I can see how some people become passionate about it.

This is the way dating is supposed to work. Not a match. Cool, thank you very much.

Same, I'm not a fan of dating vegans, they sure go on about it and before long everything starts to revolve around their diet.

Rude. Imagine how else she would micromanage you.

Thin =/= healthy, but she was overbearing.
