I'm 55. I've worked out and eaten a very healthy diet my entire adult life. I'm pretty fit (if I do say so myself) but could stand to lose 10 pounds, which is why I've increased my exercise and decreased my caloric intake. I don't lose weight easily, but it's my own damn fault for having gained it in the first place. Too much sitting around and mindless eating during the pandemic.

All this is to say, I'm very familiar with the universal middle-aged struggle with weight. It doesn't take an extreme lifestyle change; it only takes sensible eating and moving more. Easier said than done, I know, but my point is, that there isn't a complicated formula to remaining reasonably fit.

To this I agree. It is easier said than done, which is why a lot of men and women haven’t.

Right, I don't mind some extra marbling in the rear-end area. kind of like it actually.

Forgot to mention, a beer gut on a woman (or just gut)...same thing. Some women to gain wait in the middle than the backside and doesn't really lead to the hour-glass shape.

Reason being, at least in the USA, there's this "body positivity" movement that's going around that being obese should be accepted and should not be seen as unattractive.

It’s different for a boyfriend or husband because ofc they are going to look sloppy sometimes at home. Women too…I have my yoga pants & cropped soft sweatshirt moments. BUT for a date….totally different. Then it would bother me.

IMO it says a lot about a man if they are not capable of making an effort or care about their appearance enough for a date to put on a nice shirt & chinos or jeans. edit: It’s not an unrealistic expectation^^.

Apparently, in the US, women are now expected to have the hard bodies and men to have the soft "curves."
I’ve always thought women prefer a man with a little meat even if he’s overweight a little then a slim guy.

I'd much prefer a slim guy.

Now if it's a choice between a guy with a few extra pounds and skinny guy? Then I'll take the guy with a few extra pounds. I don't like skinny.

Would you prefer a slim, fit woman, or a woman who's overweight?

How is it an Unrealistic expectation if there are people who actually look like that? I've known people who have been fat or chubby their whole life and then one day choose to focus on their health and turn into a "hard bodied god or goddess" yes hormonal changes can make it where your body stores fat more easily BUT your body can't store fat if it's getting not enough fat or carbs & sugar that it can turn into fat. basically if you take in fewer calories than you burn the result is weight loss, if you take in the same amount of calories that you burn the result is your weight will stabilize.

I actually like all of the above...with the latter not being TOO overweight...say obese. If she fills out in the right areas (proportionately), then that can be appealing as well.
