most of those civilizations went by means of astrology (not the same as astronomy) a common belief was that the earth was the center of the universe, and the sky was a big sphere around the world. they believed that the stars were all the same distance away.

the problem with astrology is that they didn't know the earth "wobbles" like a spinning top. so when they made the whole astrological sign it's because that was when constellation x was in the night sky, but today all that is off by almost a month. so if you are a taurus for example, the constellation taurus isn't in the right place.

make a long story short, they knew a lot for their time, but there was still a whole hell of a lot that they didn't know or were just outright wrong about.

Cool The Rocket to Luna

Hi Everyone!
Seems very interesting. I've been doing lots of research on the topic, but I'm intrigued by one site. It's titled The Rocket to Luna

The Rocket To Luna! - December 21, 2012

Do you think this is actually it? or just some hocus pocus?
I've been reading about mayan predictions of a rocket as well, such as here:
Mayan Rocket

Hmm.. very interesting

December 21st, 2012 is not Doomsday

None knows the knowledge of the fore-future but only God the All-Knowing.
So, I don't know from where did they get such prediction.

It could be true or turn to be some false prediction. I don't know. God is the All-Knowing.
It may be that something disastrous or dangerous may happen, or there will be nothing.

Anyhow, Doomsday will not take place almost at such date of December 21st, 2012.
Doomsday will take place about 2 000 years later.

Many things to be fulfilled have not been fulfilled yet. God is the All-Knowing.

eanassir: Well, at least you placed the end date far in the future, so it won't need revising for a long time.

Meh, of all of the things in life to be concerned about, Dec 21, 2012 isn't one of them. Even if it does come, there isn't a whole lot I can do about it, so why worry?

Kalki Avatar The Apocalyptic Horse Rider

This will be so far a time; I don't think Doomsday will be more than 2000 years later; actually after 1000 years the Earth will stop its axial rotation and this will last 1000 years after which the whole solar system will break up and that will be the Doomsday.

But there is a date which is nearer than this: it is the death appointment of man or his death day; when he will be transmitted from this material World to the next spiritual world of the afterlife.

So what's gonna happen when 2012 comes and goes and not a thing happens, at least not the end of the world anyways. How will the 2012ers explain that?

Do we get a new date? 2016 perhaps? Please, no. I can do without all the crappy Hollywood moves that it will inspire. It's bad enough they keep making Saw movies.
