Audrey Hepburn was wearing short hair in 1956 and no one has ever looked better.

Right, but not everyone looks like Audrey Hepburn! You almost have to in order to pull off short hair.

I have two friends with short hair that it looks great on.

One has long brown hair in the front and short in the back that is not one of those weird, jacked up bobs.

The other one has a grey, fierce crew cut. She's so chic and so well dressed that she pulls off the crew cut like no one else.

I once was at a bar with my husband and this other woman walked in with a fierce crew cut. Really fabulous on her.

I complimented her on her cut and she burst out crying.

One of her friends came up to me later and said it was her first time out after chemo and her hair was just starting to grow back and she thought her friends put me up to complimenting her.

Me? I'm 50 with red hair halfway down my back.

why does anyone have to 'pull off' short hair? I'm no Audrey Hepburn but I've had short hair for over two decades and at times it's been REALLY short. It's easy to take care of, it's comfortable and I don't have to spend money on perms or color. It's thick, straight, graying and grows crazy fast. If someone doesn't like it they are more than welcome to avert their gaze rather than have to look at it. The only person whose opinion matters is my husband's and he loves it, so life is good! I doubt if I would ever be mistaken for a man, but if I was it wouldn't particularly concern me.

Happily he thinks my short tousled silver do is gorgeous (especially when I wear red lip gloss and silver earrings, which I do all the time) and I adore his shaved head and facial scruff so all is well is biscuitland!
It matters to you because you care what others think. That's all good because of the end result: I love hearing of relationships like yours where both parties are head over heels in love with each other. I can feel your love reading your post - thanks so much for sharing it!

Are you watching the Benghazi / Clinton questioning today on TV?

There is a lady sitting behind the Democrat Congressmen that has a Burr Military style haircut. She's grey and it actually looks good, although I would not want to back talk her.

She's there at the hearings and I'm home in my recliner. I most definitely would want to talk to her! Powerful women are to be respected, not feared or shunned.
