I find it so very sad people need to talk about how much they have and how they live. They are missing out on a lot.
I know. I initially thought that this thread would contain comments like " We eat a lot of beans and rice, but I "rich people splurge" on the very highest quality stationary and pens, for when I write personal letters."Comments like that. I was pretty excited. I thought it was going to be about "splurging like a rich person" rather than rich people making sure everyone knows they are rich. Anyway, that is how I answered the question.

It’s not the number of posts, but robots start the thread and never come back to add anything anymore. There are people with fewer posts than 25 but are not a robot. I Identified a pattern so that’s how I know. They all became a not member after I report them. So I was correct.

So true. I knew a guy whose family owns a lot of real estate in Manhattan. Wears jeans all the time, drives a good but sensible automobile, and understands that he is privileged in ways that others aren't just because of his wealth. Looking at him, you would never know.
Mightyqueen801, I worked in a nice (at the time) casino, dealing card games and roulette, frequently in high stakes area. You could spot the really rich guys a mile away. They wore jeans, t-shirts, baseball caps. They didn't always hang in the high stakes area. Regardless of where they played, they tipped like crazy. These were usually self made guys.
Guys who were broke, well off but not really rich or occasionally the silver spoon type would do just the opposite; they dumped all their money in "the look" and were stingy. Good lesson, I think!

I believe it! I've told this story before, but my ex-husband, who did windows and home improvements on his own for a while, was doing some work on a house in a town where you were required to have 2 acres minimum to build and most houses were in the millions. This house had a three-car garage, and a snow-melt system under the driveway, and all those sorts of amenities that the average working person's home doesn't have.
When the homeowner got home each day fairly early in the afternoon, he was very interested in what my husband was doing and would watch him work and ask questions, very down-to-earth guy, and my husband noted that this guy was dressed just like he was--jeans, flannel shirt, work boots.
He got comfortable enough with the guy that he finally asked him one day what he did.
The man had a rat-killing business, and he had accounts in the warehouses on the Jersey docks. "Shipping companies pay a lot of money to get rid of rats", he said. I guess so! Killing rats had made him a multi-millionaire.
