I had no special memories of the "Toy Box". But, I was sure it was where I stated in my previous post. Maybe I'm remembering something else ..my memory isn't photographic. I finally went up on the hill to see the huge emptiness where the mall once stood. This was yesterday. We took the Gbaby to see a movie in the new Cinemax (I think it is) Theater. Went in Marshall's and a couple other stores. Oh well....the times they are a changin' on the south side.

Notice some are familiar with the houses built by Mr. McCreless. Was wondereing if he built the ones in the area of Betty Jean, Sally Gay, Cynthia Lynn, etc., off of E Southcross. Thanks

I worked at the Montgomery Ward's during the 07 Christmas season in the kids clothing department.. interesting times really.. I remember going out to the mall and getting fried rice and an eggroll from the little chinese food place.. remember Tito's pizza and I can never forget the Gold Mine and later, Tilt.

I remember in the 80's we would go across town there, and would eat at Luby's, go to Wards, Penny's, Woolworth, bdalton, and of course gold mine. Then stop at Orange Julius on the way out.

I was upset when they closed the bookstore in front of luby's.

The demolition picture with just the dome standing does bring back memories. I remember walking, standing, and sitting under it many a time.

*sighs*

I could be wrong but I also remember the Toy Box closer to JC Penny's (north end) but on the Orange Julius (west) side.

It was very near where Platter's used to be (in the 80's) and across from Woolworth's?

Sorry, it was just south of Woolworths on the same side of the mall. The east side.
