how is this for irony.....a lady just rang my doorbell and said she was babysitting the neighbors 2 boys and she didn't have a phone but needed to call the boys mom--so I let her in to use the phone. She calls and I hear her say- you need to come home-they have been throwing up and have diarrhea.... so of course when she leaves i am thinking swine flu!!!

According to CDC, they can also be symptoms of H1N1 flu virus.

Could be...but doubtful. If those are the only 2 symptoms, I wouldn't think it to be H1N1.

I'd be cleaning, but more because of norovirus.

CDC Case definition is fever + 2 of the following: cough, sore throat, runny nose. vomiting and diarrhea may be symptoms, but would not be considered flu without the others.

In the current climate, how is it doubtful? Especially since those two symptoms in particular aren't affiliated with the regular flu. Symptoms don't always present all at once, but in stages, and as is true with many illnesses, some people don't exhibit all symptoms listed. Better that they get checked out now. Antiviral medicines work better within two days of symptoms presenting. Better to be safe than sorry.

Update on School (K – 12) Dismissal and Childcare Facilities: Interim CDC Guidance in Response to Human Infections with the 2009 Influenza A H1N1 Virus

The CDC article also says the following:

"If a school dismisses students or a childcare facility closes, school or childcare related gatherings should also be cancelled. Parents and students should be encouraged to avoid congregating in large numbers outside of the school setting."

My complaint is not shutting down the schools, but there was no plan to restrict the movements of the students and staff thus localizing the infected area.

It's doubtful because the poster above you is a known doctor.

Well I didn't interrogate her for their full symptoms! Even if it is something else- I was more laughing at myself for going behind her with the lysol!!! And of course my paranoia got worse....they go to my kids school.
