Wow, that was some rain. I keep forgetting that when they say "morning hours," they mean their morning and not mine! I was at Ft Sam by 6:30am and only saw about a minute's worth of heaving rain while going up Bandera Road (and right in front of Starbucks, which kept me from getting my usual Chai Tea Latte! ).

Ended up getting breakfast with my boss at Carmelita's over off Broadway for about the same price!

We had several folks late to the class we were teaching because of the rain. I heard some poor soul rolled his truck into the median at 151/410. When will people learn that after a long dry spell, the first drops of rain bring out all of the oil in the road making them slicker than snot?!?

I hope the driver is OK, I understand the truck didn't fare too well!

Cheers! M2

I was walking up to work on Ft Sam at 6:30, not a drop. My wife said that it rained for about an hour at home though. Maybe .5-.75 inches?

There were quite a few accidents on the roads today...my folks included. They were driving from Temple to Austin and got into a small fender bender. Luckly, nobody was hurt.

Anyway, it was nice to have some good rain around here.

Yeah, it started here in NW SA around 2:30am, and was pretty heavy about 7:45am. I haven't checked the rain gauge yet but there sure was a handful coming down when I looked outside the window!

Cheers! M2

We got most of ours later in the morning. Not sure how much, but it was nice and is keeping things green, in almost December.... strange thing is most grass in Michigan is still green too or it was a few days ago when I was there.

San Antonio Water System: Aquifer Level & Water Use Stats

A -15.42 from normal is a scary thought going into the Spring months. Especially if La Nina is going to do its' thing. Also, I overheard a conversation at a store about fireworks and that the drought is long gone. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Ummmm......we are still in a Stage 2 restriction which some folks have obviously forgotten about.

On Monday (or Tuesday, if the holiday prevents it), we'll drop to Stage 1. The 10-day average has been above 650' for 30 days as of today.

Nope - ain't forgotten it in the least. But just like lost sleep, at some point what's lost is lost, and doesn't impact going forward once things return to normal. Having said that, we've still got a long ways to go to get back to normal water supplies, so we DO have to exercise caution.

Especially when you rely on rainwater catchment systems to supply your house. Or if you are a rancher in the area. Granted we have had a wet December, but when you look at the precipitation there was not a day over an inch which in my mind is substantial. What I am more interested in is how the city/area/state is planning on handling La Nina and drought if it does occur and impacts the Spring leading into the Summer. Stage 1 to me is still concerning because that means we are still in the hole. And yes exercise caution completely.
