I love HEB, but this makes me upset

I hope that's true. I'll believe it when I see it.

I hate the fact that HEB"s dominate this city and that the competition has been driven out so that HEB's compete against themselves. The HEB at Bandera and 1604 is "My HEB" that is shared by the Helotes community because they don't want eyesores like HEB and Walmart ruining their pristine land. This HEB is well undersized for its location so making it an HEB Plus is a plus just getting in and out it is chaotic. HEB's have become a landmark in this city so when I give directions I always use an HEB as a reference point.

I still hate the idea of a Plus. If they won't do more Central Markets, why not a hybrid with just some features of a Central Market? I'd love to have some of those delicious breads available without going such a long distance. And more variety in certain grocery items...but HEB just ignores requests for stuff like that! I DO NOT want a grocery store where I have to walk so far to get from one section with grocery items to another section of grocery items because of junky stuff that don't belong in a grocery store and don't interest me in any way whatever. I much prefer how the super-targets are arranged, with pretty much grocery items on one side and "other" stuff kind of separate.

I've never been to the Alon Market store, but I think that fits your description.

HEB tries to give its brand the most prominent place and does tuck away some nationals or drops them.

That was another thing that drove me crazy-- especially when they dropped them completely! Some people prefer name brands.

This is why I shop at super targets. Same prices and way less crowded, shorter checkouts, and less walking around, I get out of ther in 1/2 the time it takes me to buy one item at HEB.
