We sold our Palm Desert home to move to a home we had built in San Antonio, Texas. Hated that because it was like living in Hell. I'd rather drink dirty toilet water than live in Texas ... but anyway, when we came back here 9 months later we moved to La Quinta.

Her property taxes are through the roof, and because she's too young to have them fixed, she has to deal with them going up almost 10% a year. Right now her monthy property taxes are higher than her mortgage payment. She's moving back to CA as soon as her house sells.
My wife and I almost moved to Texas too, and thank God I did the research. I guess prop 13 was good in a sense for one thing. We don't have to worry about the county reassessing our property's value every year, and then going up on our property taxes.

We had a million dollar home in Texas and our property taxes were pretty close to $30,000.
Fortunately we sold the house to some people from Florida before we got hit with the tax bill. When it arrived, we were happy to forward it on to the new owners.
We were so lucky to sell that house. Most people don't want or need a house that big, plus I had a ballroom in the house because I am a competitive ballroom dancer. I thought nobody would ever have a need for a ballroom in a house except me. Perhaps they were sold on the media room or the game room or the conservatory, I don't know.

It was good that you were able to sell. I had a rental house in Moreno Valley, and I couldn't rent it out. It was by the grace of God that a good friend of mine who specializes in selling homes in Moreno Valley sold my house within 30 days during the holiday season.

Well, back in the day, when I was a teen-ager, and living in Sunnymead, but attending school in Riverside...(there was no high school in Sunnymead back then)...we didn't admit where we

I lived in Moval for about 18 months before moving to Menifee. I was one of those buyers who bought and flipped homes every other year while enjoying the checks I received each time I moved. I think Moval is a nice area, especially Moreno VAlley Ranch, Hidden Springs, and Sunnymead Ranch, but of course Moval has become notorious for the higher crime, and yet has the mall, the shopping, and close proximity to everything.

Fortunately we sold the house to some people from Florida before we got hit with the tax bill. When it arrived, we were happy to forward it on to the new owners. 
We were so lucky to sell that house. Most people don't want or need a house that big, plus I had a ballroom in the house because I am a competitive ballroom dancer. I thought nobody would ever have a need for a ballroom in a house except me. Perhaps they were sold on the media room or the game room or the conservatory, I don't know.
