That's shows their true colors right there. UPT was right. It seems like they are just sheltered trustfund babies trying cause trouble without having to answer for their actions.

They were totally impossible to talk to. God knows many of us tried.

I was really proud of the way the cops held rank even when people were up in their faces.
Yes, I actually have a renewed respect for the OPD and even Dellums. He may be totally ineffective, but this situation is TOTALLY up his alley of expertise as a long time Civil-Rights advocate.

I was watching KRON-4 the whole time too, and you could tell they were starting to get bored, and played the clip over and over from the Footlocker.
Yes, you could tell the media was hoping for much more rioting and looting then what actually occurred.

Our city's residents for the most part behaved commendably imo and I am very proud of the general response by our police department and Mayor.

I think I see what you're saying - you mean, where are the demonstrations for the other people who get killed in Oakland? I think there are peace rallies decrying Oakland violence, but I'm not sure - usually it's more subtle activist groups making grassroots efforts.

They do have vigils for that, but the police are not supposed to kill unarmed civilians. It's not the same, they are supposed to protect people, not kill them, especially if you go through special training. When you have poverty, guns & drugs mixed together killing is expected, sadly.

Well that goes without saying.

There is a laundry list of problems that Oakland must work on. We are all in agreement with that.

But the events that occurred last night were not incited for the most part by people who are not from Oakland yet Oaklanders will be forced to shoulder the blame for their actions and that's not fair.

The local media is not our friend and they relish and exploit any and every opportunity to denegrate and look down on our city.

As I stated earlier, it could have been much worse, thank Goodness the police in concert with emergency services from around the area worked in concert to keep the troublemakers in a relatively small area.

This was nothing like the rodney king riots(I was in college in LA when that happend)-last night was a much, much smaller event where cooler heads prevailed in the end.

I'm trying to show the public what kind of violence and destruction occurs at the hands of Oakland residents.

Does this guy look like a white guy wearing a bandanna with anarchist affiliations?!

Looks like a regular Oakland resident to me.

Now your city has incurred over $20,000,000 in damages in a single night of rioting and looting, and the sentencing phase isn't even done yet.

You don't see a problem with this?

Yes. The bottom line is Oscar Grant was face down on the ground and Johannes Meserhle pulled out his gun and shot him in the back.

It may or may not have been an accident but a life has been lost carelessly and unjustifably.

He cannot simply get by with a slap on the wrist-and being a cop to me means that he more than others, should know better.

this was much ado about nothing
riots at penn state ,u of maryland and michigan state have been worse and those were about sport teams.

1992 LA riots/rodney king gets his ***** kicked
53 PEOPLE DEAD

2010 oakland /oscar grant shot in back
STOLEN SHOES,TRASH CANS ON FIRE,BROKEN WINDOWS

not much of a "riot " in my opinion.

Yeah, $22,000,000 worth of damage in a city that's fiscally bankrupt is nothing. I wonder if that $22,000,000 could pay for those 200 cops being laid off by OPD.
