Expect the looting and rioting soon. I wouldn't travel to Oakland this week.

So far, there is no rioting or looting. The general consensus seems to be that the verdict was too light.

What a lot of people don't know is that the jury is read instructions and the letter of the law, word for word. If any element is missing, they are not permitted to come back with a guilty verdict.

This jury that was chosen and agreed upon by both sides felt that the State met all of the elements of Involuntary Manslaughter beyond and to the exclusion of every reasonable doubt. If there is any doubt what so ever, no matter how slight, you legally are not supposed to return a guilty verdict.

From what I read about the trial and just going on that, I had said if they come back guilty it will be for Involuntary Manslaughter.

That is why I asked would you go for the harsher penalty knowing that many are looking for it and may riot in the town.

I think the jury did their duty and a great job.

No ****ing ****, huh? The added punishment is to discourage use of firearms in the first place. This isn't going to deter cops from carrying them. Think about what you're saying.

This was very much expected! The cop gets a slap in the wrist..2 years for involuntary manslaughter...but of course he will get away with probation and join his 6 figure cop job again.. He is a hero to a lot of people! Lets just make this guy a police chief...
