Not really. Driving through either city (suburbs or not for either) look shockingly more similar than most people want to admit. Austin looks the same as well.

Interstate 45 in Dallas is located in the Great Trinity Forest and the Trinity River floodplain. So that's why 45 is elevated and why it's undeveloped.

And on top of that...the southeastern suburbs of Dallas are tiny, rural and not as developed as The woodlands,Conroe and other northern suburbs of Houston that you experience 45 min to an hour before you hit the city of Houston. However if you came in on I-75 from Oklahoma or Sherman into Dallas it will give you the same feel and effect as driving south on 45 into houston.

The culture in the DFW area is that public transit is lower class and therefore many people refuse to set foot on it. Everywhere in Dallas has valet, even Equinox gym. lol I like riding the Dart but many people i work with are like "eww gross".
Its not just DFW. Its the same in almost all places. Its starts from the school bus and goes on from there. If you are 16 and still riding the school bus you are considered sooo lame. You gotta prepare for your wheels at 15.

Dallas has better downtown, if words can be described for it since they're both bad. Dallas is way further along in downtown with housing and art cultures, airport, transportation and many big city amenities. Houston has a long way to go.

He is right though. Most metro areas in the US arent strong in transit usage, especially in the South. Compare America to Europe and you'll see.
