This was a very horrible story. I've read a few stories on the crime, but I can't stomach another one, so I didn't click your link. (sorry) The only bright side is that the people of India are sick of the violence against women and actively protesting. The govt. is starting to pay attention and something may actually get done.
I don't blame you on the no click through. The first stories I cam across were not as graphic as the true detail of this crime. When I came across the detail I was even more disturbed than the general stories.
It was pretty horrible. One of the worst element of it that it was a grown group of men that brought a young teen male into the mix of offenders. I just don't understand how you can go from daily life to that being your plans for the day and to bring a kid...can you make it any worse? Ugh.

Too many times. That's why the people are fed up. Bless them for standing up for her and the others.
One of the links I read contained a link that said that India is one of the worst possible places to be a woman. That's pretty bad considering the competition out there.
I did not read about this crime, just seeing the information, made me ill.
Those "socio-paths" that did this horrific crime, need to be publicly denounced, and some how, the entire culture needs to acknowledge, that if they continue to ignore this type of behavior, their entire society is compeltely degenerate.
Women are not safe any place, it seems like.
What is with men, who do this crime? Do they realize how completely depraved it is to act like this? No self control, or empathy for the victim, who in this case, DIED, from their heinous depravity.
Appalled.
And, I never want to EVER go to India!!!! That is for sure!!!!!

The details are horrific. The link the OP posted, which I finally clicked on after being assured it did not contain the details, was very mild compared to the information that is out there about the case.
You know, this is indeed a horrific crime. Yet, I am optimistic. Things like this have probably been going on in India and other such countries for decades, perhaps centuries. This time though, something was different. This time there was a public uproar over what occurred. I think nations and cultures move at their own pace. India was a very poor third world nation for many years. Now, things are beginning to change. Its becoming a center for the computer industry and electronics in South Central Asia. There is a motion picture industry. Someday, I think it may well become a first world nation. It has some distance to go, but its definitely on the way. Perhaps, we are seeing signs of an ancient society entering the modern world.
We forget our own history as a nation. We didn't give women the right to vote until 1920. Maybe some here have heard the Rosa Parks story. Rosa was a black woman who was arrested because the law in her state and city required African Americans to sit in the rear of municipal buses. Rosa wouldn't move and was arrested. Her arrest ignited a firestorm which was much like the firestorm in India over this woman being raped. Years later, people in India may look back on this situation as a sort of "catalyst" that forced change.
Time will tell. What a horrible tragedy this is. However, much of history is tragic and it is those elements of tragedy that force good people in a society to take a hard look at themselves. One can hope.

You'd be safer in India than many parts of the US.
I have to wonder what caused this gang to single out this particular young woman and her male companion for the attack. It was an apalling tragedy. The death sentence will be fully justified.
When I was married, my husband was sent to Saudi Arabia, this was back in 1989, right around, or a bit before "Desert Storm", so, I went with him, and it was an eye opening experience for me. I was told, I was not, "safe", to go out unescorted, I had to wear a headscarf, and dress conservatively.
It was an interesting experience for me, and I was glad to come back to the US.
Sure, there are bad things that happen here, like the "New York, Central Park" gang rape. But, raped on a city bus?
Hmm, yes, that could probably happen here...sadly.
I walk each year, with "Take Back the Night", to promote awareness of violence aginst women. I encourage you to support this event in your area.
I could barely stomach reading the articles on this ugliest of crimes.
A young medical student, badly beaten, repeatedly raped and then thrown off a moving bus... and dying as a result. My heart literally "hurt" when hearing of her death.
Of course it is not just India. Egypt is currently in the throes of common rapes as are other Arab countries. And let's not forget the USA.
The viciousness of some men towards women is truly nauseating and very, very difficult to understand...
