How come nobody ever talks about Washington, DC's murder rate?

Media bias? Favoritism?

Probably because DC's murder rate has dropped more than pretty much any city. Do you realize how high DC's murder rate was, historically? In the '00s, DC had a decade murder rate of 35.88. That's twice what it is this year. In the '90s, DC had the highest comprehensive decade murder rate of all large cities, at 67.33. The '80s, 37.68. DC is historically one of the most dangerous cities in US history. When that city once used to regularly post 60- and 70-plus annual murder rates, dropping below 20 per 100k is not just commendable, it's miraculous...

I have a thread in the General US board called "Historic Big City Murder Rates". Check it out...

And no, I don't believe gentrification is why because gentrification is happening in many cities yet crime rates remain the same or increasing.
Well, when guns are hard to get, even small time criminal won't have them so they will use other tools... The sad part for them is that other tools are not as effective as guns to kill

Gun control is crap especially in America since our culture grew up around them. States and cities with supposedly strict gun laws like California and Chicago still have a lot of gun crime. Besides, a small time criminal is just using a gun as intimidation when they're robbing or whatever (which means an airsoft would work fine). If its murder they're gonna find a way to do it. Gun control won't stop it. More policing would tremendously help though and be a better option. That's why NYC has a much lower crime rate now...the policing. Probably got a little extra help from the Fed after 9/11 as well.

I have another theory on why NYC's crime rate has plummeted, but it's not politically correct and it's not what people might think. A lot of people think it's gentrification, but it's quite possibly the opposite. Instead of thinking about it as gentrification, think about it as replacement. The people who are doing the replacing aren't rich...it's actually the opposite. At this point, if you read carefully what I'm saying, I think you can understand what I'm trying to imply, especially if you look at the demographical changes that have occurred over the last 20 years. It's offensive, but it may be the truth.

Right but its still high by today's standards, so that point is moot.
