I was surprised at Beth's response to the complaint that the dress wasn't her and it didn't feel right. I would have expected her to come back with, 'Yes, but today isn't about you and you never need to wear this again.'
It seemed like a cheap way to try and get back in her daughters good graces.
I was annoyed at that scene, too. The day wasn't about her.
I agree and Beth missed a major teaching point as a mom - sometimes it's simply not about how I feel. Brother.
And if she is uncomfortable with a youngish teen having heterosexual sex then she should be uncomfortable with a youngish teen having same sex sex. Period. But maybe she's cooler than me.
I would have told the entitled little brat it’s not about her, it’s about the bride and groom.
Oh my goodness. I don't see her as brat. She didn't throw a tantrum. She's just reacting to feeling that she is often "out of place". It's a good learning situation that the mother didn't take advantage of.
The girl is high maintenance and they not only enable it, they encourage it.
High maintenance?? All three of their children are extraordinarily low maintenance, as far as teens (tween, in Annie's case) go. To an almost unbelievable extent.
How was she being a brat? She was withdrawn, but wasn't pouting obnoxiously. She was quietly struggling. And it wasn't her suggestion to change the dress.
I didn't think so, so she shouldn't be OK with a younger teen having sex either.
