i had either a feeling they did just that or i was granted an additional 26 weeks for going to school. I am hoping its tiers for obvious reasons but I wasn't sure if there was a tell tale sign on the sheet. Thanks for the response

** BASE YEAR- 52-week period on which a claim is based. A regular base year consists of the first four (4) of the last five (5) completed calendar quarters. If you do not have sufficient weeks and wages for a valid claim using the regular base year, an alternative base year may be used.
Correction – my claim was started in January 2009 so it looks like I don't qualify for EB. The link deals with claims this year – 2010.

Look again. They update those tables every year. It's more like a "sample" to show you what quarters they look at when you initially open a claim. Everything else (Tiers & EB) is based on that until you have other employment. Your base year has not changed. See the rest of the EB rules. Ignore the part about earning $143.00..." Sorry about the confusion but I've never been in a situation like this with unemployment running on so long like this. With my claim opened in January 2009 and my base year being October 1 2007 – September 30 2008 this means that I'm good then? (Base year period being the 1st 4 of the last 5 quarters prior to filing the claim).

You should be fine. Do you remember getting a monetary determination from 1/2009 showing your previous employers, weeks worked, and earnings from the base year?

Yes, I have saved every piece of paper from unemployment in a thick folder and I'll have to check back and have a look at it.

Default unemployment

I am from New Jersey and just started Tier IV. I want to know if there is still EB in the picture? I started collecting EB last November for 2 weeks when they stopped it for Tier III. I had a balance on the EB. When the Tier IV stops as of April 5th, am I still able to collect EB or has it been discontinued in light of the latest changes?

Once you exhaust all EUC Tiers, you'll pick-up NJ EB where you left off. EB (Extended Benefits) is still available in NJ as long as the state UI level remains at or above a certain trigger.

The link about EB mentions the unemployment rate averaging 8.5% over a 3 month period. Check out this chart -

Good chart!

NJ EB was triggered on last March, and high EB was triggered on last May. We are still in an "EB period".
