If it came to a referendum, I would 100% vote for the monarchy.

It would be different if they still had governmental control based on birth right, but as it stands now I am totally pro monarchy.

The majority of college educated, gainfully employed English people that I know feel the same way.

So what is the case for having a monarchy in Britain? I'm curious to know how monarchists make the case to their fellow britons on this?

I'd like to know that too, The same old stuff gets trotted out about how they bring tourists to the UK, (or particularly London). Where I think tourists would come to the UK regardless of whether the Royal Family were here or not. Tourists do visit other parts of the UK where the Royals don't live.

The reality is, the Royal Family don't live in modern times, they cost the taxpayer alot of money and have many large homes that must cost a fortune to run. I would say they are also out of touch with how the average man in the street lives.

If there must be a Royal presence, make it one head of state, King or Queen and the rest of the freeloaders can have their titles but go out and earn money for themselves the same as the rest of us.
